Individual tiles can be swapped out in heavily trafficked corridors or under workstation clusters without disturbing surrounding areas. The key is maintaining a stock of matching or complementary tiles from the original specification—a practice facility managers should build into their procurement process from the initial installation.

Scheduling is often the variable that determines whether a zoned replacement strategy succeeds in practice. In occupied commercial environments, flooring work must be coordinated around business operations, tenant requirements, and building access protocols.

Several principles guide effective phased scheduling.
